21st Century Community-Oriented Policing Philosophy
The St. Anthony Police Department is committed to community-oriented policing with thousands of interactions with the public and the community annually. The department follows a philosophy that includes building public trust and safeguarding officer well-being. We are committed to training that works toward proficiency in all aspects of police service and builds our capacity in areas of procedural justice and fair and impartial policing. In the past year, our department had over 1800 hours of officer training.
In the Community
Policing involves a partnership with the entire community - our department hosts numerous service programs including the SAPD Community Academy, scam prevention, Night to Unite, bike safety, Pinewood Derby races, Summer Survival/Safety School, Cops vs. Kids Basketball game events, ride-along opportunities, and much more.

Opportunities to Learn and Develop
Cadet Program
St. Anthony provides students accepted into the SAPD Cadet program with flexible scheduling to accommodate school (up to 20 hours a week). We pay for skills training with the agreement that Cadets work for the department following completion (at least 2 years). Cadets must be in school full time.
