The Metropolitan Council has granted the City of Saint Anthony Village $35,000 for private property owners to help with repairs that will remove and prevent clear water from entering the wastewater treatment system. Qualified spending on eligible work must occur by December 31, 2025. Grant awards may be 50% of eligible costs up to $5,000. For private property owners meeting municipality’s equity criterion, the grant award may increase up to $10,000.
Eligible Repairs:
- Private sewer service lateral repair and/or replacement
- Foundation drain disconnections and new sump pump, if associated with the foundation drain disconnect
- Sewer service lateral inspection and cleaning costs if televising and cleaning result in the repair or replacement of sewer lateral
Grant Criteria:
- Grant applications accepted May 1 - May 31, 2025
- Work must occur by Dec. 31, 2025
- Repairs must be made AFTER grant acceptance, repairs made prior are not eligible
- Applications will be prioritized based on income limits set by Federal Housing of Urban Development
- Homes on the market are not eligible
- Applicant must use a contractor that pays prevailing wages
Grant Award Process
After May 31, 2025, staff will review applications. Priority will be given to those applications that meet the equity criteria. If you are selected to receive a grant, you will be contacted to submit follow up information such as proof of 2024 income, quote from contractor with cost of repair, and video showing I & I issue (tree roots, cracks in the service, etc.). Repairs made prior to grant acceptance are not eligible for the grant.
